The Veil

What Is The Veil?

The Veil is the boundary between the physical and spirit realms: the barrier that holds back what shouldn't cross. Every story in this universe orbits it, whether that means guarding it, breaking it, or paying the price for what slips through.

Beyond the Veil: the spirit realm Veil-touched / Veil-marked: bloodline magic The Rending: the threat all three series orbit

The Female Leads

The Ruined Destiny

Sayra

“Everyone keeps calling me chosen. Chosen for what, to bleed first, or just to bleed the longest?”

Legacy of the Dragon

Caenrya

“They called me the Dragon of the Warring Lands. They forgot dragons don't beg, and neither do I.”

Rise of the Fallen Bloodline

Vaeris

“They told me my house was finished. Nobody told my house that, it just kept breathing, and so did I.”

The Male Leads

The Ruined Destiny

Emrys

“I used to plan ten moves ahead to keep her safe. Now I only need one, and it ends with everyone who took her from me.”

The Ruined Destiny

Sylven

“I didn't want a partner. Fate wasn't asking what I wanted, it just handed me the sharpest, most reckless one it had.”

Legacy of the Dragon

Halden

“My father taught me duty comes before the heart. He never said what to do when they're the same thing.”

Rise of the Fallen Bloodline

Calder

“I was raised to inherit a house. I'd rather build one worth inheriting, starting with the choice my father never gave me: her.”

The Ensemble

Ryu & Ren Sahkara“I called her a crazy bag of bones. Turns out the bones were holding together the only person brave enough to save all of us.” (Legacy)

Eirea Cadigan“I lost an eye keeping that girl breathing. Cheap price, considering what she's worth.” (Legacy)

Vander Navarre“They called me the spare. Funny how quickly a kingdom remembers your name once you're the one holding the crown.” (Ruined Destiny)

Kai & Laen Arvel“I'm the man of this house until Vaeris says otherwise. She never says otherwise.” (Rise)

Grandfather Arvel“Little Spark, a house isn't four walls and a name. It's whoever's left standing.” (Rise)

Sha“Mortals do love calling things ‘impossible,’ right up until a cat does it.” (Rise, Vaeris's spirit familiar)

Lord Sagen“Sentiment is a luxury great houses can't afford.” (Rise, Calder's father)

Aria Nightshade“They purged my house for a crime it never committed.” (Rise)
